What Does the Magnificat Say About Mary?

What Does The Magnificat Say About Mary?

The Magnificat - Part 1

Allow me to introduce you to a much better Christmas song than any modern artist could compose. In the early chapters of Luke, three songs were sung. Simeon sang the third after he held baby Jesus in his arms in the temple. Zechariah sang the second after his wife, Elizabeth, in her old age, bore a son they named John. And Mary sang the first after visiting Elizabeth, a relative, while both of them were pregnant. (7 Minutes/2000 Words)

God Is Light

(1 John 1:5)

In 1 John 1:1-4, we read John's purpose statement, his heart for his readers, a group of Christians in a circuit surrounding Ephesus, where he'd pastored. He loved this group and, fearing the false teaching which sniped them off one by one, he lovingly rose up to communicate the truth to his beloved, his little children. (6 Minutes/1600 Words)

God Is Light

Part 1

(1 John 1:5-22)

We read John's purpose statement, his heart for his readers, a group of Christians in a circuit surrounding Ephesus, where he'd pastored. He loved this group and, fearing the false teaching which sniped them off one by one, he lovingly rose up to communicate the truth to his beloved, his little children. He would proclaim the True Vine, the real Jesus Christ, to them. He aimed to bring them into fellowship with the apostolic group and the truth they were licensed to preach. (7 Minutes/1700 Words)

Good Pain

(Psalm 119:71)

It's an astounding confession. The psalmist felt his affliction was good. Looking back on it, he realized he learned the Word of God *because of his affliction*. The pain was his professor. (1 Minute/200 Words)

Statutes as Songs

(Psalm 119:54)

When I played basketball in high school, we had a warm -up song. It was our anthem. Every time we warmed up in our home gym, Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" blared from the blown-out public school speaker system. (1 Minute/200 Words)
