50 Healthy Church Leader Tips

Guest Article for CalvaryChapel.com

Having grown up in a church planting pastor's home, I love pastors and church leaders and strive to help them in any way I can. I recently wrote an article for my network at calvarychapel.com called *50 Healthy Church Leader Tips*. They might not work for everyone, and I probably don't do all of them at all times, but I hope they might help you as you serve our Lord. Enjoy!

Leaders, Love God's People

(Proverbs 27:23)

In biblical times, shepherds had to scout and prepare distant lands for their sheep. During the brutal summer months, it was vital for the flock to have a safe, cool climate and a space full of vegetation. Vacation Time

Just a quick post to let you know I will be taking some vacation time with the family over the next few weeks and will be out of the pulpit and writing flow. I am grateful and appreciative of this time. It will give me a chance to regroup for whatever comes next during this wild and historic time. Though I feel strong and excited to preach the gospel, it will be nice to slow down and reset.

I am grieved again by recent events in our nation. Institutionalized racism has again ascended into public consciousness, but it's been there all along. Much work must be done. And listening is a must. But God's people need to pray, for prayer is our great weapon. For this, I recently wrote a prayer from my heart to God. (6 Minutes/1500 Words)

In his new book Christ Unites, Pastor Nate Holdridge takes you on a journey through Paul's letter to the Ephesian church. There, Jesus is seen as the head of the church, the originator of a new humanity designed to carry out His will. Each chapter tackles a different dimension of Christ's work at unifying all things to Himself, at His purpose and plan for His people.

Disciples have always said, "If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that" (James 4:15). We have always believed an uncertain future is held in the hands of our God. Though what lies ahead is unknown, we know our Father in heaven, and this helps us navigate the uncertainties of life today. (3 Minutes/900 Words)

6 Lessons I've Learned About Small Group Ministry

Having pastored a church without small groups, and now having pastored a church where always at least half of the congregation is in a small group, I can tell you the latter is preferable. People need to know each other. People need to interact with healthy Christians. People need community. (7 Minutes/1800 Words)
