There, in the garden, we discover God's original intention. It is something beautiful that the gospel of Jesus Christ and the constant ministry of the Holy Spirit can continually restore in any marriage that submits itself to Christ. (5 Minutes/1200 Words)

The Holdridge Family Minivan is one of my favorite places on earth. As the odometer whirls, so do the conversations. Together, we traverse. Short trips. Long trips. Happy ones. Grumpy ones. And as we go, so do our words. Time to check-in. Time to laugh. Sometimes, time to teach.
Read moreExodus 4
In our last study in the Book of Exodus, we saw God begin the process of calling Moses to be the figurehead who would be the deliverer, the prophet, the instrument that God would use to deliver the people of Israel from their slavery in Egypt. They of course had grown in Egypt over a number of years, over 400 years and had gone there originally as a small family with favor from pharaoh because of Joseph and the good success and ministry that he had executed as the right-hand man of pharaoh, but Exodus tells us that a day came when a pharaoh arose who did not know Joseph.

It is easy to think God shoves His people into the deep end without any training or preparation. He does, after all, use the weak things of the world to put to shame the mighty, the foolish to confound the wise. So we might easily imagine He just takes a brand new novice believer and chucks them into the deep waters of life and ministry opportunity. But, though God loves to take us way outside our comfort zone, He also prepares us for that moment. The disciples of Christ were prepared. The prophets were prepared. David and Moses and Noah were prepared. Privately, God builds up His people before their public work. (7 Minutes/2000 Words)

Moses, about to die, pleaded. He wanted the Word of God to meld with Israel's mind. He wished his teaching would drop like the dew (32:2). He would depart, but God's word would remain. He'd passed God's thoughts on to Israel, and he prayed they'd pass them on to their children. (2 Minutes/400 Words)

To win the spiritual war, we must put on Christ's war-clothes. Paul lists six pieces of the spiritual armor. Paul was, remember, imprisoned as he wrote. He had seen Romans soldiers and their armor up close. The Spirit showed him a parallel, for God has given spiritual armor to his people. This list is life, for with these elements we can stand against the attacks of the enemy. (10 Minutes/1800 Words)
Read moreUnited In The Home -- Fathers (Ephesians 6:4)
One might read Paul’s words to Christian children in Ephesians 6:1-3, particularly his exhortation to obey their parents, and wonder if the Christian home is a cold and harsh place for kids. Nothing could be further from the truth, for as the mind of Christ fills His church, fathers and mothers grow to become more like Jesus. (3 Minutes, 600 Words)
